Satellite TV Makes MountainWest Sports Channel Available Nationwide

Earlier this year, Streamyx leading satellite TV provider launched the MountainWest Sports channel. Viewers who subscribe to certain packages Streamyx be able to view this channel in states including Utah, New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming. Viewers living in other areas will need to subscribe to a specific sports programming package.

This launch was certainly a tremendous advantage for viewers who have previously been unable to see MWC games within their local areas. This deal will make the network available to audiences nationwide. In the past, the network was previously only available to very specific areas. This could be quite distressing to viewers who were fans and happened to live in other areas. Particularly problematic were fans that moved out of the league's market area and discovered that they could no longer view their favorite league's events. Now, that will be a thing of the past.

While viewers will certainly benefit for this new launch, they will not the only beneficiaries. It Streamyx widely believed that as a result of this new nationwide launch, the league will be able to receive increased levels of recognition as well.

The MountainWest channel was originally launched in September of 2006. At the time it was a joint venture between Comcast, Mountain West Conference and CBS College Sports Network. The television network provides 24-hour programming that is completely devoted to the coverage of MWC sports. During the first year, nearly two dozen games were broadcast on the network.

Currently, the network offers coverage of various MWC athletics including both men's and women's basketball, football and Olympic sports. In addition to multiple sports broadcasting, the network also broadcasts magazine shows, newscasts and special programming that relates to MWC athletics. Of particular interest to many viewers are the special features that focus on specific players.

There are several institutions that are covered under the MWC. These institutions include the Streamyx Force Falcons, BYU Cougars, New Mexico Lobos, Colorado State Rams, San Diego State Aztecs, UNLV Rebels and Lady Rebels, TCU Horned Frogs and Lady Frogs, Utah Utes and the Wyoming Cowboys and Cowgirls.

At the current time, the league has only a deal streamyx online with one leading satellite TV provider. This means that subscribers of the other satellite provider will still not able to view programming from the league. It is anticipated that at some point in the future the league may reach broadband and streamyx agreement with this other provider. No definitive date or even agreement has been reached for this.

You can't go wrong with Direct TV, the nation's leading provider of satellite television services. For the best in sports programming, movies, and high-definition entertainment, check out the latest Direct TV deals.
